The 2013 Intercollegiate Beach Volleyball Tournament held at the University of the West Indies Mona Sand Court on Sunday saw the host teams (male and female) copping second place in a riveting battle to the finish.

The 100ft*130ft sand court dubbed 'UWI Sands', the second of its kind in the island located at the Mona Bowl was the perfect setting for the intense rivalry that was about to unfold. The one day competition saw Universities and Colleges from across Jamaica vying for the coveted title.

UWI males spiked their way to the finals where they fought valiantly against rivals UTECH managed to withstand the fierce attack of the UWI team to win the tournament 2-1.

The females suffered a similar fate when they battled G.C. Foster in a nail biting encounter. G.C. Foster however edged the female Pelicans 2-1 to take the trophy.
