Olympic 110M Bronze Medalist leads UWI Charge to Western Relays

Led by Olympic 110m Hurdles bronze Medalist and World University Games 110m hurdles champion Hansle Parchment; the University of the West Indies Mona Pelican Track and Field are set to participate in the 50th staging of the Milo Western Relays this Saturday.

The 33 member delegation headed by Assistant Sports Coordinator Rashid Hall, Team Manager Davida Dixon,  27 athletes, 3 members of the coaching staff and a Physiotherapist departed Kingston today for Montego-Bay.

The UWI are the defending champions of the Sprint Medley and undoubtedly the inclusion of Parchment in this year's team will undoubtedly strengthen the teams overall performance. Team manager Ms. Dixon noted that her major expectation for the team this weekend is to cop a few first place medals. As per Hansle's presence she said, "He (Parchment) is the flagship of the entire team, he'll lead us to victory. We are hoping to get. I believe he is the strong point and that base on his performance the other athletes would want to step up their game and do well."   She also lamented that fans and well wishers should "continue to invest and support the UWI team as we have a good program going and we will be in the forefront in another year or two."  Parchment will also be seeking to defend his 110m hurdles gold medal.

The University of the West Indies wishes the Mona Pelicans all the best.
