UWI Pelican retains Gibson Relays Sprint Medley Title

The University of the West Indies Mona Campus was not to be outdone at the 37th staging of the Gibson Relays held at the National Stadium on Saturday.

A dazzling performance by the UWI Sprint Medley team to retain the sprint hurdles title in a time of 3:23secs sent the UWI supporters and much of the stadium in frenzy. Although it wasn't a record breaking performance, the Boys from Mona Road galloped around the track leaving their opponents some 30meters well behind before the clocked stopped. The team comprised of Nicholas Maitland, Duwayne Ferguson, Leon Wray and Jowayne Hibbert.

The 4*100m male relay team barely missed out on a spot on the podium as they were edged into fourth place in a time of 39:20secs. The squad consisted of World University Games Silver Medalist over 200m Jason Young, Bernado Bradley, David Dunn and Kavean Smith.
