YY1-miR-146a-YY1 Regulatory Circuitry: A Potential Mechanism of Prostate Cancer Formation and Progression

Issue:
DOI:
10.7727/wimjopen.2013.314
Synopsis:
YY1, a critical regulator in prostate cancer, is predicted to be a direct target of miR-146a and binds to promoter region of miR-146a which demonstrates that YY1-miR-146a-YY1 regulatory circuitry may contribute to prostate cancer and serve as a future intervention target.

Expression and Location of Glucose-regulated Protein 78 in Testis and Epididymis

Issue:
DOI:
10.7727/wimjopen.2013.259
Pages:
14–7
Synopsis:
GRP78 protein is widely present in human testis, epididymis and spermatozoa. Capacitation and acrosome reaction didn’t affect the location of GRP78. Positioning percentage and signal intensity of GRP78 on sperm were significant positive correlation with sperm progressive motility and vitality.
ABSTRACT

Objective: To know the role of glucose-regulated protein 78 (GRP78/BiP/HSPA5) in spermatogenesis and its expression and location in the testis and epididymis.
Methods: Immunohistochemistry and Western blot were used to detect GRP78 location and expression in the testis and epididymis.
