Protective Effect of Wolfberry Extract on Acetic Acid-induced Colitis in Rats

Issue:
DOI:
10.7727/wimj.2015.444
Pages:
356-61
Synopsis:
Wolf berry extract has certain anti-ageing, neuroprotective, anti-fatigue/endurance-increasing, and anti-oxidant biological effects with antitumour activity and cytoprotection. The protective effect of Wolf berry against acetic-acid-induced colitis in rats and Wolf berry extract effectiveness were investigated in this study.

ABSTRACT

Objective: To investigate the protective effect of wolfberry (WB) against acetic acid-induced colitis in rats.

Predictive Value of Neutrophil Lymphocyte Ratio and Wells Score in Patients with Pulmonary Embolism after Trauma

DOI:
10.7727/wimj.2015.483
Synopsis:
Trauma patients have a high risk of pulmonary embolism. In this study, the neutrophil lymphocytes ratio in peripheral blood and the Wells score were found to be effective in predicting pulmonary embolism in trauma patients.

Protective Effect of Montelukast Sodium in Acute Ethyl Alcohol-induced Hepatic Injury in Rats

Issue:
DOI:
10.7727/wimj.2015.431
Pages:
345-9
Synopsis:
The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of montelukast sodium on acute hepatopathy induced by ethyl alcohol in rats. The liver tissue and biochemical parameters were assessed. Montelukast sodium administration had beneficial effects in alleviating ethyl-alcohol-induced hepatotoxicity.

ABSTRACT

Objective: Ethyl alcohol (EA) is a substance that is used commonly worldwide and known to have toxic effects on the liver. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of montelukast sodium (MK) on acute hepatopathy induced by a single dose of EA in rats.

Diagnostic Value of Neutrophil-to-Lymphocyte Ratio in Allergy Patients

Issue:
DOI:
10.7727/wimj.2015.242
Pages:
227-9
Synopsis:
This study was conducted to investigate the association between neutrophil lymphocyte ratio (NLR) and the progression of the disease in the cases of acute allergic reactions. The significantly high NLR in acute allergic reaction cases in this study suggests that it may be a useful diagnostic parameter in allergic reactions.

ABSTRACT

Objective: To investigate the relationship between the neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) and the clinical characteristics of the acute allergic reaction patients diagnosed in an emergency clinic.
