The Incidence of Asthmatic Attacks in Barbados

The demographic analysis of asthmatic cases found higher attack rates in males than in females, higher number of attacks in children less than five years old and exponential decrease attack rates with age. The highest correlation with the meteorological variables was with the vapour pressure.

Endorectal Ultrasonography in Rectal Cancer: A Preliminary Barbadian Experience

The clinical utilization of endorectal ultrasound has shown high accuracy for the preoperative definition of tumour and nodal stage in low rectal cancer. In Barbados, preliminary experience supports this view and has been used to select those patients best treated with preoperative radiotherapy and down staging chemoradiation.

A Descriptive Study of HIV-infected Long-term Surviving Children in Barbados: A Preliminary Report

Synopsis: 
This is a descriptive study of children surviving to eight years-of-age from a cohort of 44 HIV-infected children not on treatment. Seventeen (38.6%) survived to the age of eight years and are categorized as long-term survivors. Of the 16 children alive, 37.5% had mild symptoms with no immunodeficiency and are categorized as long-term non-progressors.
