Thyroid, Parathyroid and Eye Dose Evaluation in Head and Neck Computed Tomography Examinations, Phantom and Clinical Study

Issue:
DOI:
10.7727/wimj.2015.136
Pages:
538-42
Synopsis:
In this paper, we report on some critical organ doses from brain computed tomography (CT) scans in different depths of phantom and compare with patient's dosimetry. This is significant because most studies evaluate the organ doses from surface dosimetry of the patient but we estimated the organ dose, with lesser fault, in different depths of humanoid phantom.

The Effects of 2100 MHz Radio Frequency Radiation on Thyroid Tissues

Issue:
DOI:
10.7727/wimj.2015.104
Pages:
51-5
Synopsis:
This study aimed to show the effect of 2100 MHz radio frequency radiation on the thyroid tissues of rats in early and late stages. According to the study, smart phones did not lead to significant biochemical and histopathological changes in the thyroid tissues of rats.

ABSTRACT

Objective: To reveal the effect of 2100 MHz radio frequency (RF) radiation on thyroid tissues of rats in the 10 days (group E1) and 40 days (group G1) exposure groups.

Different Doses and Routes of Administration of Methimazole Affect Thyroid Status in Methimazole-induced Hypothyroidism in Rats

Issue:
DOI:
10.7727/wimj.2014.241
Pages:
93–7
Synopsis:
In the present study, we established and compared differences of the rat’s hypothyroid model induced by MMI added to drinking water or given through an intragastric tube.

ABSTRACT

Objective: It is agreed that methimazole (MMI) can be administered to induce hypothyroidism. However, there are conflicting data about its effect on thyroid function and development in rats through different administrations. In the present study, we established and compared differences of the rat hypothyroid model induced by MMI added to drinking water or given through an intragastric tube.
