Kevarney K.R. is the Research Assistant to the Head of the Institute for Gender and Development Studies (IGDS), Mona Campus Unit. Kevarney was previously a Graduate Assistant in the Department of Government at The UWI, Mona, where he recently completed the Master of Science in Government graduate program; his specialization is in Comparative Politics and Political Theory. He also holds a Bachelor of Science Degree with a major in Political Science and minor in International Relations.
 
Kevarney is also a writer, multidisciplinary artist, and curator whose interdisciplinary practice affirms Blackness as an existential condition shaped by African heritage, colonial encounter, and postcolonial survival. His work sits at the intersection of Africana studies, Jamaican art history, and Black political thought, exploring themes of identity, resistance, memory, and community in the aftermath of colonialism. His work as a research assistant at the Institute for Gender and Development Studies (IGDS), Mona Unit, supporting intersectional research with and for vulnerable communities, in collaboration with key stakeholder organizations. He is also a curator at The Olympia Gallery, where he works across exhibition development, artist engagement, and archiving. His writing has been published recently in Burnaway Magazine and his artwork has was exhibited in The National Gallery of Jamaica's “The Face of Us'' exhibition between December 2023 and March 2024.
