The University Singers Concert Season 2007
The University Singers Concert Season continues on Thursday, May 31 and continues until Sunday, July 1 at the Philip Sherlock Centre for the Creative Arts, UWI Mona. The show times are Thursdays – Saturdays, 8:00 pm and on Sundays 4:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.
The 2007 Concert season features the choir presenting a wide repertoire, inclusive of classical, spiritual, gospel, folk, reggae and calypso.
The UWI School of Nursing Conference
The UWI School of Nursing, Mona (UWISON, Nursing and Midwifery Research Centre will host the 18th Annual Nursing Midwifery Research Conference and the 19th Annual Mary J. Seivwright Day from May 31 to June 1 at the Jamaica Conference Centre. The theme for the Conference is “Nursing Research Providing Evidence for Improved Nursing Practice.” The Conference begins on Thursday, May 31 with an Opening Ceremony at 8:30 a.m. The guest speaker will be Dr.
Urban Cultures Of The Caribbean
The Department of Sociology, Psychology and Social Work, UWI, Mona in cooperation with the Institute of Caribbean Studies and the Department of Geography and Geology of UWI, Mona will hold an international, interdisciplinary symposium on urban cultures of the Caribbean from September 27-29.

CARIMAC Summer School Starts June 4
When undergraduate students retire for summer break this year, CARIMAC will welcome a new batch of students in its 25th annual Summer School Programme. The programme features some new courses such as Business Planning for the Self Employed, Short Feature Production for TV and Creativity Boot Camp, and some old favourites such as: Public Relations, Public Speaking and Radio Announcement and Presentation.
Erna Brodber’s Latest Novel - The Rainmaker’s Mistake
The Department of Literatures in English, UWI, Mona, in association with West Indian Association of Commonwealth Literature and Language Studies (WIACLALS), and the Philip Sherlock Centre for the Creative Arts, launches The Rainmaker’s Mistake, the fourth novel by acclaimed Jamaican writer, Erna Brodber. The Launch takes place on Wednesday, May 16 at 6.00 pm, at the Philip Sherlock Centre for the Creative Arts.
New Opening Hours - UWI (Mona) & Community Co-op. Credit Union Ltd.
Please be advised that the new opening hours of the UWI (Mona) & Community Co-op. Credit Union Ltd. on the Mona Campus will be 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. effective Tuesday, May 1.
Non-Credit Foreign Language Courses
The Language Lab will offer a non-credit evening courses in Spanish and French starting May 28 running until August 1.
These courses are open to persons without any previous knowledge of the subject area. Payment of course fees must be made in advance of the start date. Each course costs J$8,000.For further information please contact the Language Laboratory at 927-2743 or ext. 2382.
Regional Mathematics Symposium
The Department of Educational Studies Science and Mathematics Department, the UWI, Mona holds a Regional Symposium from May 24-25 at the Medallion Hall Hotel. The Symposium targets early childhood and primary school teachers under the theme Making Mathematics Work: Building Solid Foundations in the Early Years.”
The Transformation Agenda in Education
Each year the School of Education organizes Forums on educational issues of topical interest. This year’s theme is titled The Transformation Agenda in Education: Issues and Challenges. The forum is the fifteenth in the Series and is being held on Thursday, May 17 at 5:00 p.m. in the Neville Hall Lecture Theatre, Faculty of Humanities and Education.
