The William McConnell Nursing Scholarship

The award is available to students who are:
•    registered in the Faculty of Medical Sciences pursuing a B.Sc. degree in Nursing
•    entering Level II of the programme.

Tuition and Books One (1) per annum Four (4) years

•    After completion of the approved course of study the recipient will be required to remain in the employment of the University Hospital of the West Indies and be assigned to the UHWI Private Wing or UHWI for a period of two (2) years following graduation.

The awards will be based on:
•    a record of high academic achievement by maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0;
•    verifiable financial need.

Shortlisted candidates will be interviewed by a panel comprising of the UHWI Private Wing Board Director, UHWI General Manager and a representative of St. Elizabeth Holdings Limited.

UHWI Batch 63 Scholarship

The award is available to students at The University of the West Indies, Mona Campus in the Undergraduate Degree programme who:

  • are Jamaican nationals;
  • are registered in the Nursing programme at the UWI School of Nursing (UWISON);
  • have completed two years of studies in the undergraduate Nursing program( years 3 students eligible to apply).
$2500 USD per annum
  1. Students must write an essay of 300-400 words explaining why he or she should be the recipient of this financial need-based scholarship.
  2. Provide two references as per the University’s prospective reference list.  (At least one reference must complete the UWI Reference Form)

The award will be based on: 

  • high academic performance (and is renewable to the same student in the 4th year if a GPA of at least 3.0 is maintained at the end of year 3).
  • verifiable financial need;
  • involvement in co-curricular/community activities;

The awardee will be selected by UWISON and UWI representatives

The recipient (s) of this scholarship will be expected to work in Jamaica for at least one year after graduating from UWISON.

 

Undergraduate Scholarship in Linguistics

The awards will be available to registered full-time students who are:

  • Jamaican Nationals;
  • in the Faculty of Humanities & Education pursuing a major in Linguistics, a Special in Languages and Linguistics or a Special in Linguistics
  • entering Level Two (2) or Three (3) of the programme.
$300,000 each Two (2) awards annually

Continuation on the award for the final year will be based on the awardee maintaining a minimum GPA of 3.0 in the last academic year University's examinations.

The award will be based on:

  • high academic performance with at least a GPA of 3.0;
  • verifiable financial need;
  • involvement in co-curricular and/or community activivties;

 

University Lodge of the West Indies/Francis Haddon Bowen Scholarship fst

The Francis Hadden Bowen scholarship and Grants are available to Jamaican nationals (males only) who are:

  • registered in their final year of a full time undergraduate programme at the Mona Campus

 

The Francis Haddon Bowen scholarship is available to students who are pursuing a degree in the Faculty of Science and Technology  (Depts of Physics/Electronics) and the Faculty of Engineering

The Leslie Robinson Book Grant is available to students from the Department of Mathematics

The Euclid King Book Grant is available to students from Computing and related technologies

J$150,000.00 AND TWO GRANTS OF J$50,000 EACH One (1) SCHOLARSHIP AND TWO BOOK GRANTS One (1) year

The award will be based on: 

  • high academic performance (results of the previous academic year University examinations with at least a GPA of 3.0);
  • verifiable financial need; 
  • demonstrable involvelment in co-curricular activities.

Selections will be done by the Donor on the recommendation of the UWI. 

UNIVERSITY LODGE OF THE WEST INDIES/FRANCIS HADDON BOWEN SCHOLARSHIP fst

The award is available to Jamaican Nationals (male) who are:

 

    • registered in their final year of a full time undergraduate programme at the Mona Campus;
    • pursuing a degree in the Faculty of Science and Technology (depts. of Computer Science OR Physics OR Electronics)
J$150,000.00 UNIVERSITY LODGE OF THE WEST INDIES/FRANCIS HADDON BOWEN SCHOLARSHIP One (1) One (1) Year

The award will be based on:

    • high academic performance (results of the previous academic year University examinations (at least a GPA of 3.0);
    • verifiable financial need;
    • demonstrable involvement in co-curricular activities.

Selections will be done by the Donor on the recommendation of the UWI.

UWI ALUMNI ASSOCIATION (JAMAICA CHAPTER) SCHOLARSHIPS fst, socsci

The award is available to Jamaican Nationals who are:

  • registered full-time in the Faculties of Social Sciences or Science & Technology;
  • entering the final year of the degree programme.
J$100,000.00 (3 Awards), J$50,000.00 (2 Awards) Five (5) One (1) year

The award is based on:

  • maintenance of a high level of academic performance in the two preceding academic years;
  • verifiable financial need;
  • demonstrable involvement in co-curricular and community activities

Shortlisted candidates will be interviewed by a panel comprising personnel from the University and Donor Agency.

UWI BOOKSHOP TEXTBOOK GRANT FOR STUDENTS engineering, fst, humed, law, medsci, socsci

The award is available to:

 

    • Students entering the final year of their program of study in any Faculty of the UWI, Mona Campus.
J$20,000.00 Five (5) One (1) year

The award will be based on:

 

    • Academic performance based on results of the previous academic year University examinations (at least a GPA of 3.0);
    • Verifiable financial need.
UWI First Year Female Grant agriculture, Institute of Gender and Development Studies, engineering, fst, Faculty of Sports, humed, law, medsci, socsci
  1. Jamaican Nationals
  2. Westwood High School Graduate
  3. Currently in First Year

 

J$40,000.00 One (1) per year
  1. verifiable financial need;
  2. involvement in co-curricular/community activities;
  3. leadership qualities etc;
  1. The scholarship would be advertised on the University’s website;
  2. Applicants short-listed on the basis of performance in University Scholarship Examination or Advanced Level GCE/CAPE Examination
  3. Candidates would be interviewed by a panel comprising personnel from University and the Donors or as otherwise specified.
UWI TORONTO GALA SCHOLARSHIP engineering, fst, humed, law, medsci, socsci

The award is available to CARICOM Nationals who are:

  • registered full-time in the Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Medical Sciences, Faculty of Science and Technology, Faculty of Sport, Faculty of Humanities & Education & the Faculty of Social Sciences.
  • entering level two (2) or three (3) of their undergraduate degree programme.
CAN$3,000 To be decided by Donor One (1) year

The award is based on:

  • Maintenance of a high level of academic performance (GPA of 3.0 or above);
  • Demonstrable involvement in co-curricular activities;
  • Verifiable financial need.

The successful candidate(s) will be selected by a Committee comprising personnel from the Donor and U.W.I.

Applicants applying for more than one award should submit a SEPARATE application form when applying for this scholarship.

UWI VISA CARD SCHOLARSHIP engineering, fst, humed, law, medsci, socsci

The award is available to:

 

    • Students registered in an Undergraduate Degree programme;
    • Students from any Faculty;
    • Students entering Level II or III (Two or Three); in the case of Medical Sciences Level IV or V (Four or Five) of their programme of study.
US $1,800.00 Four (3) Two (2) years

The successful applicants will be required to do 50 hours of voluntary service with The Institutional Advancement Division as assigned by Donor. 

The award will be based on:

 

    • Performance based on the previous academic years' UWI examinations (GPA of at least 3.0);
    • Involvement in co-curricular or community activities;
    • Verifiable financial need;
    • Demonstrable leadership potential.

Short-listed candidates will be selected by University personnel.
