  • Jamaican Nationals;
  • students in any Faculty at UWI Mona

The award will be based on:

  • academic performance based on the results of Advanced Level GCE/CAPE Examination;
  • Involvement in co-curricular activities;
  • verifiable financial need;
  • leadership qualities.

Candidates will be interviewed by a panel comprisingpersonnel from the University and the donors.

PRICEWATERHOUSECOOPERS SCHOLARSHIP socsci

The award is available to Jamaican Nationals who are:

 

    • studying at the Mona Campus and are registered in the Faculty of Social Sciences;
    • pursuing a B.Sc. degree in Management Studies (Accounting option);
    • registered in the final year of the degree programme.
J $300,000.00 One (1) One (1) year

The awards will be based on:

 

    • a record of high academic achievement in UWI examinations of Levels I and II of the degree programme (a GPA of at least 3.6);
    • proven leadership qualities;
    • demonstrable involvement in co-curricular, extra-curricular and/or community activities.

Shortlisted candidates will be interviewed by a panel comprising representatives of UWI and the Donor agency.

PRINCIPAL'S SCHOLARSHIP FOR EXCELLENCE (THE) fst, humed, law, medsci, socsci

The award is available to students registered in the Undergraduate Degree programme and:

 

    • Are registered in any faculty;
    • Are entering Level II or III of their programme of study. 
Tuition and Miscellaneous Expenses To be decided One (1) or Two (2) Years

The award will be based on:

 

    • Academic performance based on results of the previous academic year University examinations (at least a GPA of 3.3);
    • Demonstrable leadership qualities;
    • Involvement in co-curricular and/or community-related activities.

Short-listed candidates will be interviewed by a panel comprising personnel from the University's Senior Management

RALPH & RICKY LAUREN BURSARIES (THE) fst, humed, medsci, socsci

Available to Jamaican Nationals who are entering their final year in the Faculties of Medical Sciences, Science and Technology, Social Sciences, Humanities & Education (one award per Faculty).

J$200,000.00 Five (5) Two (2) years

The award will be based on:

 

    • good academic performance;
    • verifiable financial need;
    • participation and leadership in co-curricular activities.

Shortlisted candidates will be interviewed by a committee comprising personnel from the University.

Ray Miles Scholarships

The award is available to students who are:

  • registered Full-time at the Mona School of Business and Management
  • enrolled in their 3rd year 
US$2,000.00 each Four (4) per year (2 males and 2 females)

The ward will be based on:

  • high academic performance with a minimum GPA of 3.0;
  • verifiable financial need;
  • involvement in community service.

 

Shortlisted candidates will be interviewed by a panel including personnel from the Institutional Advancement Division. Selection will be based on the criteria above.

Roger Vezina Memorial Bursary engineering
  1. Jamaican Nationals; 
  2. Engineering Faculty; 
  3. level of study – years 1 to 3
  4. Attained 17-26 years; 
  5. PREFERABLY be a student from and reside in the parish of St. Mary; other students may be considered if no-one qualifies from St. Mary.
J$100,000.00 1 each year
  1. Verifiable financial need; 
  2. Verifiable involvement in community activities; 
  3. Good communication, demonstrated leadership qualities 

 

  1. The Bursary would be advertised on the University’s website; 
  2. Applicants are short-listed on the basis of performance in:
    Advanced Level GCE/CAPE Examination.
  3. Short-listed  candidates will be interviewed by a panel comprising representatives from the University and Donor or their designee(s).

 

The donor(s)/designee(s) would wish to have the opportunity to meet the awardee of the Bursary.

Samuel Edward ‘Sticky’ Brookes Memorial Scholarship fst

The award is available to students who: 

  • are registered to complete a degree with a major in Geology at the University of the West Indies, Mona Campus;
US $5000 Two (2) tuition scholarships and One (1) bursary Two (2) years for the scholarship and One (1) year for the Bursary

The award will be based on: 

  • high academic performance based on CAPE Results or maintain at least a B average or a GPA of 3.0 or higher at The UWI; 
  • demonstrable financial need;
  • demonstrable community involvement and leadership qualities.

Short-listed candidates will be interviewed by a panel including personnel from UWI, the Donor and any other representative, as selected by the Donor.

School of Education Open Scholarship

The award is available to students who:

    • are Jamaican nationals 
    • are studying a Bachelor of Education Degree.
    • Level of Study : 
      • Full-time students:  1st - 3rd year 
      • Part-time students: 1st - 5th year
Tuition and Miscellaneous Fees One (1) 1 year

Service Obligation and Bonding:

  • All scholarship recipients will be required to serve as teachers in public educational institutions for a period equivalent to the number of years they benefited from the scholarship after graduating from UWI.
  • Additionally, recipients must complete voluntary service within the School of Education department.

 

The award will be:

    • Merit-Based: This scholarship is designed to attract outstanding students who are committed to contributing to Jamaica’s educational development.
    • Acadmic performance (at least a GPA of 3.0) 

Application Requirements:

  • A personal essay outlining: 
    • Reasons for pursuing a Bachelor of Education degree.
    • Perspective on the role of education in Jamaica’s national development.
    • Career goals.

 

SENIOR COMMON ROOM ANNIVERSARY SCHOLARSHIP engineering, fst, humed, medsci

The award is available to students:

 

    • entering final year; 
    • pursuing a B.Sc. in  the Faculties of Humanities & Education, Engineering, Science & Technology, Medical Sciences (Government Sponsored)
J $300,000.00 One (1) One (1) year

The award will be based on:

 

    • high academic achievement in the annual University Examinations (at least a GPA of 3.0);
    • verifiable financial need;
    • involvement in co-curricular activities.

Short-listed candidates will be interviewed by a panel comprising personnel from the Senior Common Room Club Management Committee. 

In addition to the referee's affadavit, all applications should be accompanied by a recommendation letter from the Head of Department or the Dean of the Faculty. 

Applicants applying for more than one award should submit a SEPARATE application form when applying for this scholarship.

Stanley Greig Memorial Scholarship fst, humed

The award is available to Jamaican nationals who are: 

  • pursuing studies at the Mona Campus leading to a first degree in Computer Sciences (either in the Fcaulty of Humanities & Education or the Faculty of Science & Technology)
  • entering the final year of the degree programme.
J $75,000.00 One (1) One (1) year

The award will be based on: 

  • high academci acheievement in the level 2 University examinations (at least a GPA of 3.3);
  • verifiable financial need;
  • demonstrable leadership qualities in co-curricular activities.

 

Shortlisted candidates will be interviewed by a panel comprising personnel from the University abd representatives from the donor agency.
