Flag Raising & Death Notices

On the varying occasions where the UWI flag and/or flags of the Contributing Countries may be required to be hoisted, flown at half-mast and lowered, it is the Secretariat’s responsibility to ensure that appropriate protocols are observed. The Secretariat, therefore, maintains a schedule of the Independence days of all the contributing territories and ensures the hoisting of the relevant flag(s). The flags are also raised for special events such as Campus Council meetings, Graduation Ceremony, Matriculation and Welcome Service, and Research Days.

As the office responsible for raising the UWI flags at half-mast when a student, staff member, or retiree dies, the Secretariat is to be advised (in writing) of the death of such persons as soon as possible.
