The award is available to students:

 

    • Jamaican national;
    • Registered in a full-time government sponsored undergraduate degree programme tenable in the Faculty of Science and Technology OR the Faculty Social Sciences OR the Faculty of Humanities & Education ;
    •  entering Level Two (2) or Three (3) of the degree programme.
J $346,533.00 One (1) One (1) year

The recipient is expected to participate in fifty (50) hours of voluntary service  in an area of service approved by WIGUT (Jamaica)

The award shall be based on:

 

    • high academic achievement (at least a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.3);
    • verifiable financial need.

Short-listed candidates shall be interviewed by a panel comprising personnel from the University and WIGUT (Jamaica).

Jossette Lewis Smikle Scholarship

The award is available to students who:

    • are Jamaican nationals 
    • are studying a Bachelor of Education Degree in Literacy Studies
    • Level of Study : 
      • Full-time students:  1st - 3rd year 
      • Part-time students: 1st - 5th year
Tuition and Miscellaneous Fees One (1) One (1) year

Service Obligation and Bonding:

    • All scholarship recipients will be required to serve as teachers in public educational institutions for a period equivalent to the number of years they benefited from the scholarship after graduating from UWI.
    • Additionally, recipients must complete voluntary service within the School of Education department.

The award will be:

    • Merit-Based: This scholarship is designed to attract outstanding students who are committed to contributing to Jamaica’s educational development.
    • Acadmic performance (at least a GPA of 3.0) 

Application Requirements:

  •  A personal essay outlining:
    • Career goals.
    • Reasons for pursuing a Bachelor of Education degree.
    • Perspective on the role of education in Jamaica’s national development.
K.D. EDWARDS MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP socsci

Available to final year students in the Faculty of Social Sciences with a major in Management Studies (only).

J$50,000.00 One (1) One (1) year

The award will be based on:

 

    • high academic achievement;
    • contribution and involvement in co-curricular activities within the University  and/or the community.

Selection will be done by a committee comprising UWI personnel.

Keith Dewdney Scholarship agriculture, engineering, fst, Faculty of Sports, humed, law, medsci, socsci

The award is available to students who have a letter of acceptance and are registered in a full time Undergraduate Degree programme at Mona. Applicants must be:

  • Jamaica nationals; 
  • a first-time applicant of any undergraduate degree programme offered at Mona;
  • a graduate of Happy Grove High School; A letter of recommendation from the school principal is required;
  • age 17 – 22 years.
CAD$4000 per year One (1) Three (3) years

The award will be based on: 

  • high academic performance with at least a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.0 in the previous academic year;
  • verifiable financial need;
  • demonstrable involvement in community activities.

Final selection will be made by the Donor from recommendations submitted by The UWI.

Kimberley Ennis Foundation Bursary

The award is available to full-time undergraduate students who are: 

  • Jamaican nationals 
  • Enrolled in the B.Sc. Nursing programme
  • 2nd year - 4 year students

One scholarship will be awarded to a student from the parish of St. Thomas valued at USD$2000.00

 

USD$1,000.00 each per annum (Tuition only) Six (6) per annum One (1) year

Selected students must be willing to sign the KEF Pay-It-Forward Agreement, which includes future commitments such as mentoring, volunteering and giving back.

The award will be based on: 

  • Academic performance of at least a GPA of 3.0 (B average)
  • Financial need
  • Students registered 2nd - 4th Year

Shortlisted candidates will be interviewed by a panel including representatives of UWISON, OSF and the Donor organization. 

Application should be accompanied by an essay demonstrating why the student is deserving of the scholarship.

KPMG Scholarship in Accounting socsci

The award is available to Jamaican Nationals who are: 

  • entering level II of the B.Sc. degree programme; 
  • pursuing a major in Management Studies (Accounting)
$295,000.00 per annum One (1) Two (2) years

The recipient will be expected to serve in Jamaica for a period of two (2) years immediately after graduation. 

The award will be based on: 

  • high academic achievement;
  • verifiable financial need.

Shortlisted candidates will be interviewed by a panel comprising personnel from the UNiversity and KPMG. 

Kyorel Procurement Solutions Scholarship socsci

The award is available to registered students who are: 

 

    • pursuing an undegraduate degree in the faculty of Social Sciences pursuing a degree in Social Work, Psychology or Management Studies; 
    • from the parishes of outside of Kingston & St. Andrew.
USD $500.00 One (1) One (1) year

The award will be based on: 

 

    • outstanding academic record 
    • demonstrable financial need
    • demonstrable community involvement and leadership qualities

Shortlisted candidates will be interviewed by the Manager of the Office of Student Financing and referred to Kyorel Procurement Solutions LLC for approval. 

PART TIME STUDENTS ARE ELIGIBLE

 

Preference will be given to students with previous work experience in purchasing, warehouse or logistics.

Lainey's Education Grant engineering, fst, humed, law, medsci, socsci

The award is available to registered full time Jamaican students who:

  • attended Montego Bay High School 
  • completed at least level one (1) of their undergraduate degree programme
US$1,500 to US$5,000 To be decided by donor One (1) academic year unless otherwise specified

The award is based on: 

  • verifiable financial need
  • maintenance of good academic performance (GPA of 2.9 or above)

 

Shortlisted candidates will be interviewed by a panel including personnel from The UWI and donors

Leslie McDonald Memorial Scholarship engineering, fst, humed, law, medsci, socsci

The award is available to students who are:

  •  Jamaican nationals;
  • Undergraduate students registered in any Faculty of UWI (preference will be given to students pursuing studies in Accounting, Economics, Management Studies or Public Administration);
  • members of the Jamaica Police Co-operative Credit Union Limited for a period of not less than 2 years or the child of a qualified member of the JPCCU.

The recipient will be required to work in Jamaica for a minimum of two (2) years.

The award will be based on:

  • High academic performance (UWI examinations, CAPE/Advanced Levels)
  • Strong leadership qualities;
  • Verifiable financial need.

Short-listed candidates applicants will be interviewed by a panel comprising personnel from the Donors and UWI.

LIAJA Retired Members Grant for Students in Library Studies humed

The award is limited to students who are:

  • Jamaican Nationals;
  • Enrolled in any undergraduate programme related to Library and Information Studies 

 

$50,000.00 One (1) One (1) Year JULY 31, 2019

In addition to academic performance, the award will be based on: 

  • financial need;
  • involvement in co-curricular and/or community activities;
  • demonstrated interest in the profession.

 

The successful candidate will be selected by a committee comprising representation from the Retired Members’ Section of the Library and Information Association of Jamaica and The University of the West Indies.

Letter justifying the need for assistance to be attached to the application.
