The award is available to Jamaica Nationals who are Full time student registered in any Faculty; Entering LEVEL of any year of study; pursuing BSc. at the UWI, Mona campus. 

USD 2000.00 One (1) One (1) year

The award will be based on: 

  • academic performance based on the results of the previous year University examinations (minimum GPA of 3.0); 
  • verifiable financial need;
  • demonstratable leadership qualities, volunteerism and social involvement.

Short-listed candidates will be interviewed by a panel consisting ofrepresentatives from the James family and the UWI Development and Endowment Fund.

The recipient of this award must be available:

  • for a photo opportunity and provide various written inputs including an academic resume and other items to support donor reporting and promotion of the award; 
  • to participate in any official ceremony related to the formal presentation of the scholarship award.
Anya Schnoor Scholarship engineering, fst, humed, law, medsci, socsci

The award is available to full time registered Jamaican students who are: 

  • pursuing an undergraduate degree at St. Augustine Campus;
  • under 25 years of age;
  • entering the second or third year.

 

J $300,000.00 One (1) One (1) year

The successful candidate shall not be the holder or recipient of any other scholarship covering tuition costs.

The award will be based on: 

  • Outstanding academic record;
  • Demonstrable financial need;
  • Demonstrable community involvement and leadership qualities.

 

Selection of the student will be made by a Committee of evaluators from the UWI and should include the Donor, in accordance with the criteria outlined in the Schedule which shall be read as one with the Agreement.

Application shall be accompanied with the following documents:

  • UWI application and acceptance letters;
  • CAPE & CXC scores;
  • high school transcript or UWI transcript (in the case of 2nd or 3rd year applicants)
  • one page essay on the applicant's educational goals;
  • two character references;
  • certified copy of birth certificate or registration certificate.

Audrey Roberts Scholarship humed

The award is available to: 

  • students who are accepted to pursue a degree programme in the Faculty of Humanities & Education (Humanities majors) at The UWI, Mona;
  • students registered in the first year of the degree programme.
J$250,000.00 One (1) One (1) year

The award will be based on: 

  • high academic achievement (B average or higher);
  • verifiable financial need.

Shortlisted candidates will be interviewed by a panel comprising UWI personnel and the Donor organization. 

Applications must be accompanied by a recommendation from an Academic Advisor or Teacher

Bespoke Scholarship - For CARIMAC STUDENTS humed

The award is available to full time undergraduate students at the University of the West Indies, Mona who:

  • are citizens of Jamaica at the time of application.
  • have completed their first year in their undergraduate degree from CARIMAC in the disciplines of PR, Communications and Marketing-related disciplines. 

 

90% of Tuition One (1) per year One (1) year

The award will be based on:

  • high academic performance, having obtained a grade point average of no less than 3.0 in the previous academic year;
  • demonstrable involvement in community/co-curricular activities;
  • demonstrable leadership qualities;
  • verifiable financial need.

 

Short-listed candidates will be interviewed by The Bespoke Agency Executive Director Shanique Palmer and a UWI representative.

Bogle's Grant fst, humed, law, medsci, socsci

The award is available to full time registered students who are: 

  • Jamaican nationals;
  • 17-25 years;
  • pursuing studies on the Mona Campus leading to a first degree in any faculty;
  • a resident of West Kingston  OR has attended school in West Kingston (Denham Town, Tivoli Gardens OR St. Andrew Technical High Schools) to at least CXC level.
J $50,000.00 Two (2) One (1) year

The award will be based on:

  • financial need;
  • active involvement in community and/or school activities. 

Candidates will be selected by the Office of Student Financing and the Donor. 

BRIDGET JONES AND WILLIAM MAILER BURSARY FOR FRENCH STUDIES (THE) humed

The award is available to students at Mona who:

  •  are registered in the Faculty of Humanities & Education;
  • are pursuing a substantial number of French courses.
"A min of 1000 GBP" each To be determined by Donor One (1) year

The award will be based on:

  • Verifiable financial need;
  • Academic achievement (at least a GPA of 3.0, however applications from candidates with a lower GPA may be considered);
  • N.B. Involvement in co-curricular activities would be an advantage.

The successful candidate(s) will be selected by a committee comprising personnel from Donor, Bridget Jones and William Mailer Trust.

Each applicant must submit a brief statement indicating how the Bursary will be used.

Before submission, the student must show the statement to a UWI Lecturer in French in order to obtain their agreement to act as a referee for the application. The Lecturer should indicate their agreement by including on the statement, their name, position, and their e-mail address. 

Note that the applicant is still required to submit a completed Referee's Affidavit which forms a part of the application form.

Burchell E. Brown Memorial Bursary

The award is available to students who are: 

  • Jamaican nationals;
  • entering the first year of the Law degree programme.
J$100,000.00 One (1) Three (3) years

The award will be based on: 

  • Outstanding academic record in CAPE
  • Demonstrable financial need

Short-listed candidates will be interviewed by a selection panel comprised of UWI personnel. 

BURGER KING/UWI SCHOLARSHIP socsci

This award is available to final year Jamaican students who are: 

    • pursuing an undergraduate degree in Management Studies (Entrepreneurship),  Entertainment, Culture and Enterprise Management or Economics

 

J $300,000.00 One (1) One (1) year

The award will be based on:

 

    • high academic achievement in the annual University Examinations (at least a GPA of 3.5);
    • verifiable financial need;
    • involvement in university community-leadership, sports, cultural activities. 

Shortlisted candidates will be interviewed by a selection panel from the Restaurant Associate Limited.

All applications should be accompanied by: 

 

  • a recommendation letter from the Dean/Head of Department or Senior Lecturer
  • a written essay not exceeding 500 words outlining why the applicant should be awarded the scholarship
  • proof of participation in co-curricular activities

 

The selected candidate for the award will also receive a book allowance of $50,000.00 as well as meal vouchers to be redeemed at the Burger King store.

Bustamante Foundation Scholarship medsci

The award is available to Jamaican Nationals who are:

    • under 25 years of age; 
    • registered, full time undergraduate students in the Faculty of Medical Sciences
    • pursuing studies in Dentistry

 

$300,000.00 One (1) 4 years (duration of the course)

Following completion of the course, candidates must agree to work in Jamaica for three of the first five years. Failure to do so will require repayment of an appropriate amount for each year missed.

The award will be based on:

  •  Academic performance based on the results of the previous year University examinations (minimum GPA of 3.0);
  • Verifiable financial need;
  • Active participation in co-curricular activities;
  • Demonstrable leadership qualities, volunteerism and social involvement.

 

Short-listed candidates will be interviewed by a panel comprising of the donor’s organization and the UWI Development and Endowment Fund.

Caribbean Actuarial Scholarship fst

The award is available to: 

  • students in the Faculty of Science & Technology pursuing a degree in Actuarial Science;
  • entering the second or third year.
