  • students in the Faculty of Science & Technology pursuing a degree in Actuarial Science;

Carton Washington Melbourne Bursary law, socsci

The Award is available to Jamaican Nationals of any age who are:

  • registered in the Faculty of Social Sciences and law in any year of the programme
  • from the parish of Portland or St. Mary
$50,000 One (1) per annum One (1) year

The Award will be based on:

  • academic results based on the results of the previous academic year University Examinations (at least a GPA of 3.0)
  • verifable financial need
  • involvement in co-curricular community activities
  • demonstrates leadership qualities

 

  • Applicants are short listed on the basis of performance in the Advanced Level GCE/CAPE Examination or University Examination
  • Candidates will be interviewed by a panel comprising University personnel and Donors

CB/UWI 5K Scholarship fst, humed, law, medsci, socsci

The award is available to students registered in any Undergraduate Degree programme:

  • Are entering Level 2 or 3 of their programme of study in the Faculties of Humanities & Education, Science and Technology, Social Sciences, Engineering, Law;or Level 4 or 5 in the case of Medical Sciences students.
J$300,000.00 12 (Maximum) One (1) year

The award will be based on: 

  • Academic performance based on results of the previous academic year University examinations (at least a GPA of 3.0);
  • Demonstrable leadership qualities;
  • Involvement in co-curricular and/or community-related activities.

Selection will be done by UWI officials. 

CCRIF SPC-UWI UNDERGRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP fst, humed

Available to CARICOM Nationals who:

  • are registered students  in the Faculty of Science & Technology majoring in Geography or Geology OR;
  • are registered in the Faculty of Humanities & Education majoring in Geography OR;
  • are registered in the Faculty of Engineering majoring in Civil Engineering; 
  • will be entering Level 2 of the B.Sc. degree programme.
US$4,000 Four (4) Two (2) years JUNE 14, 2025.

The award will be based on:

  • High academic performance (at least a GPA of 3.0)

Short-listed candidates will be selected by a panel comprising personnel from the  UWI with recommendations made in selecting the final candidates.

Students who have withdrawn from the programme without good reason and the approval of the Academic Director, or who fail to complete the programme, will be required to repay the award.

CG United Insurance Scholarship

The award is available to Jamaica Nationals who are:

  • registered at the UWI, Mona Campus in final year of the Actuarial Sciences Degree programme.

 

USD 2,500 each Two (2) per annum One (1) year

The award will be based on:

  • high academic performance in the last academic year's University examinations (at least a GPA of 3.0);
  • demonstrable leadership potential.

 

Awardees will be selected by a committee of evaluators of the UWI

Chinese Ambassador's Scholarship humed, law, socsci

The award is available to Jamaican Nationals who are:

  • registered in a full time programme on Mona Campus
  • registerd in any year of their programme in the Faculty of Law, Faculty of Medical Sciences, Faculty of Engineering or the Faculty of Science and Technology.   

NB: Preference will be given to students who major in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics).

$200,000.00 Eight (8) per year One year

The award will be based on:

  • High academic performance in the previous year's University examinations (at least a GPA of 3.30);
  • Verifiable financial need;
  • Significant participation in co-curricular activities;
  • Demonstrable leadership potential.

Shortlisted students will be referred to the Donor for final selection. 

Cornerstone/Barita Paul Simpson Scholarship - For Chancellor Hall Residents Institute of Gender and Development Studies, engineering, fst, Faculty of Sports, humed, law, medsci, socsci

The award is limited to:

  • Jamaican Nationals;
  • Chancellor Hall residents;
  • Undergraduate students;
  • Thirty-five years and under

 

JMD$335,000 Three (3) per academic year One (1) year - (renewable up to three years)

The criteria include: 

  • maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA
  • verifiable financial need;
  • involvement in co-curricular/community activities;
  • leadership qualities;
  • student entrepreneur 

 

  • The scholarship would be advertised on the University's website;
  • Applicants short-listed on the basis of performance in University Scholarship Examination or Advanced Level GCE/CAPE Examination or University Examination depending on the year; 
  • Candidates would be interviewed by a panel comprising  of personnel from University and/or the Donors.

 

Daren Watson Bursary for Physics fst

The award is avaible to Jamaican Nationals who are:

  • registered full time students in the Faculty of Science and Technology;
  • majoring in Physics (entering Level II or Level III).
$100,000 each Two (2) One (1) year

The award will be based on:

  • exceptional academic performance (at least a GPA of 3.60);
  • involvement in co-curricular activities 
  • verifiable financial need.

Shortlisted candidates will be interviewed by a panel comprising of personnel from the University of the West Indies and the Donor.

Applications shall be accompanied with the following documents:

  • curriculum vitae;
  • one- page essay on the applicant's career goals.

 

 

Dennis Cohen Scholarship fst, humed, law, medsci, socsci

The award is available to  full time registered students who are: 

  • under 30 years of age;
  • pursuing a three (3) year degree programme.
$300,000.00 One (1) per annum One (1) Year

The award will be based on: 

  • high academic performance based on CAPE Results or maintain at least a B average or a GPA of 3.0 or higher at The UWI; 
  • demonstrable financial need;
  • demonstrable community involvement and leadership qualities.

Selection of the student will be made by a Committee of evaluators from the UWI and should include the Donor, in accordance with the criteria outlined in the Schedule which shall be read as one with the Agreement.

 

Application shall be accompanied with the following documents:

  1. UWI acceptance letter for new students;
  2. UWI transcript (in the case of 2nd or 3rd year applicants);
  3. one page essay on the applicant's educational goals;
  4. two character reference letters.
DEVELOPMENT BANK OF JAMAICA LIMITED SCHOLARSHIP socsci

The award is available to students who are registered in Level II of the programme and are:

 

    • pursuing studies in the Faculty of Social Sciences majoring in Economics
J$400,000.00 per annum One (1) Two (2) years

The recipient is expected to live and work in Jamaica for a minimum period of three (3) years immediately after completing their studies.

The award will be based on:

 

    • high academic achievement (a GPA of at least 3.3);
    • the applicant being active members of their community;
    • verifiable financial need.

Short-listed candidates will be interviewed by a panel comprising representatives from The UWI and donor personnel.
