Tourism is a global phenomenon and in the Caribbean the tourism sector is the main stay of economic success for several Caribbean countries. This course therefore seeks to educate students on the intricacies of managing the tourism and hospitality industries. The course acknowledges the fact that tourism management is not confined simply to supervision within the tourism and hospitality setting. Instead the course focuses on the major functions, processes and procedures that are practiced and performed by the various areas associated with the tourism sector as a whole, as well as the management structure and functions of the tourism industry. The course will therefore serve as an introduction to the management of tourism locally, regionally and internationally. Specific emphasis is placed on contemporary Caribbean tourism management.
