The Faculty of Social Sciences at The University of the West Indies, Mona, is proud to announce a remarkable partnership with Grace Foods and the Organization of American States (OAS) in the creation of the OAS-UWI 75th Anniversary Commemorative Cookbook. This exciting collaboration, marked by a commitment to education and cultural celebration, has garnered praise and support from key figures in both the OAS and Grace Foods.

Launched with great enthusiasm by OAS Assistant Secretary General Ambassador Nestor Mendez at the Social Sciences Lecture Theatre, UWI Mona, this initiative is a central component of the 75th-anniversary celebrations of both the OAS and The UWI.

The OAS-UWI 75th Anniversary Commemorative Cookbook showcases a collection of 75 mouthwatering recipes, each reflecting the diverse and vibrant culinary traditions of the Caribbean and other OAS member states. This culinary journey promises to be a delightful exploration of the rich cultural tapestry that defines our region.

Jeanelle van GlaanenWeygel, Jamaica's resident representative at the OAS, commended the generous support of Grace Foods and The UWI, specifically the Faculty of Social Sciences, for their instrumental roles in bringing this recipe book to fruition. She expressed her gratitude by stating, "We are pleased to have Grace Foods as a partner. GraceKennedy has long been a strong and reputable household brand known for providing quality food products. The company is also a big proponent of education and supports numerous educational initiatives. We are happy that they saw it fit to be a part of our 75th-anniversary celebration and to help us with the resources to launch the scholarship fund."

Frank James, CEO of GraceKennedy Foods Domestic, echoed this sentiment, emphasizing their commitment to educational initiatives. He shared, "As corporate citizens, we are always excited to support educational initiatives. This 75th anniversary is a major milestone for the OAS and The UWI, and we wanted to share in the celebration and be a part of the rich history and legacy of these two great institutions."

The OAS-UWI 75th Anniversary Commemorative Cookbook has already been published and is readily available for purchase at The UWI Bookshop on the Mona campus, as well as the OAS Giftshop at OAS headquarters in Washington, DC, United States.

The primary objective of this partnership is to establish the OAS-UWI 75th Anniversary Commemorative Scholarship Fund. This fund is dedicated to supporting students in need at The UWI, Mona campus, to help them successfully complete their final year of studies. Importantly, the scholarship is open to students in the Faculty of Social Sciences who are citizens of OAS member states.

Dr. Lisa Vasciannie, Associate Dean of Partnerships and Resource Mobilization at the Faculty of Social Sciences, UWI Mona, expressed her excitement, saying, "The Faculty of Social Sciences is thrilled to highlight the robust partnership and unwavering cooperation that has flourished between The University of the West Indies, Mona, and the esteemed Organization of American States.
