The Faculty of Social Sciences welcomes Jermaine Francis as the incoming Guild Representative for the 2025/2026 academic year! Jermaine is a familiar face around campus, bringing a wealth of experience and a clear vision for enhancing student life.
A Marketing major and dedicated Taylor Hall Sponsorship Rep, Jermaine is no stranger to leadership. Last year, he served as the Cultural and Entertainment Affairs Chairperson for the Faculty of Social Sciences Guild Committee, where he undoubtedly played a key role in enriching the faculty's vibrant community. He's also a proud past student of St. Jago High School.
Jermaine draws inspiration from his role model, Lascelles Chin, and lives by the powerful words: "The heights by great men reached and kept were not attained by sudden flight, but they while their companions slept, were toiling upwards through the night." This quote truly reflects his dedication and commitment to making a tangible difference.
Jermaine steps into this role with a profound sense of responsibility and a genuine passion for the student experience. He views his position as more than just a title; it's about being present, listening intently, and truly supporting the students who form the heart of the faculty. For the upcoming academic year, his main objective is to elevate every aspect of student life. He firmly believes that university should offer more than just academics and that it should be a place where students feel heard, supported and inspired.
Beyond campus, philanthropy has always been an intrinsic part of who Jermaine is. Above all, he wants students to genuinely enjoy their time at university, making memories that will last a lifetime. You can look forward to a dynamic year filled with engaging events, vibrant cultural celebrations, beneficial wellness activities, and exciting new traditions designed to bring the faculty closer together. Whether it's helping students secure internships, creating safe spaces for open expression, or organizing unforgettable events, Jermaine's actions will always be driven by one overarching goal: to leave the Faculty of Social Sciences in an even better state than he found it.
