Long-term Follow-up of Two Cases with Spinal Hydatid Cyst Disease and Repeat Surgeries

DOI:
10.7727/wimj.2015.409

ABSTRACT

Hydatid cyst disease (HD) is an infestation caused by the larval stage of the tape worm Echinococcus granulosus. It predominantly occurs in liver and lungs. Bone involvement is quite rare (0.5%-4%); and among those, spinal disease is the most common type (44%-50%).

Ultrasonographic Measurement of the Achilles and Supraspinatus Tendon Thicknesses in Patients with Chronic Lead Exposure

Issue:
DOI:
10.7727/wimj.2014.086
Pages:
384–7
Synopsis:
Preliminary results imply that subjects with occupational lead exposure have smaller Achilles tendons than healthy subjects. Chronic lead exposure may affect the tendons due to reduction of collagen synthesis.

ABSTRACT

Objective: The study aimed to assess tendon thickness in patients with chronic occupational lead exposure by using ultrasonography.

Synopsis:
In this study, the femoral cartilage thickness of patients with Behçet’s disease (BD) was evaluated and it was found that the cartilage was thinner in patients with BD and that arthritis seems to be associated with this decrease.

Ultrasonographic Evaluation of Femoral Cartilage Thickness in Patients with Ankylosing Spondylitis

Issue:
DOI:
10.7727/wimj.2013.221
Pages:
329–32
Synopsis:
In this study, we evaluated femoral cartilage thicknesses of patients with ankylosing spondylitis (AS). Our results indicate that AS patients seem to have thicker femoral cartilage, which could be related to anti-tumour necrosis factor (TNF) treatment.

ABSTRACT

Objective: To evaluate femoral cartilage thickness in patients with ankylosing spondylitis (AS) by using ultrasonography.
