Dr. Phylicia Ricketts, a lecturer within the Department of Physics UWI Mona recently received a grant valued 1000 USD. This was awarded to her as a result of her participation in the United States Embassy Women's History month Grant Pitch competition held on March 27, 2019. She did a pitch on behalf of a non-governmental organization called ACLaS (A Classy Lady of Science). This initiative is geared towards empowering young girls to pursue STEM related fields.
