UWI and Met Service Jamaica sign MOA for Weather Station

The University of the West Indies and the Meteorological Service Jamaica (MSJ) signed a Memorandum of Agreement  on September 17, 2020 to enable the installation of an automatic weather station (AWS) on the Mona Campus.  The initiative is part of the Integrated Management of the Yallahs and Hope River Watershed Management Areas Project towards improving the conservation and management of biodiversity and the provision of ecosystem services in the Yallahs River and Hope River watershed.  The project is an agreement between the Government of Jamaica and the Inter-American Development Bank.  Data from the AWS will feed directly into the MSJ's island network and also be utilized for research at The UWI.  The MSJ has had a long standing cooperation with the Climate Studies Group Mona in the Department of Physics with collaboration on numerous matters of mutual benefit.
