The award is available to an undergraduate student who is: 

  • a female Jamaican national
  • from Duncans, Trelawny and attended Duncans Primary School;
  • registered at the Mona Campus in the Faculty of Medical Sciences in one of the following programmes: Nursing,Pharmacology, Medicine and Surgery (MBBS);       
  • entering Level 2 or Level 3 
USD $5,000.00 One (1) One (1) Year August 8, 2017

The award will be based on:

  • Good academic standing (minimum GPA 3.0); 
  • Demonstrable financial need;
  • Involvement in co-curricular activities;
  • Satisfying all other requirements of the UWI pertinent to Students’ behavior and performance. 

 

Shortlisted candidates will be selected by personnel from the University community and should include the Donor or his/her representative. 

Submit completed application forms  and all supporting documents to the office of Student Financing by the stipulated deadline. 

The Chris C. Williams Scholarship agriculture, engineering, fst, Faculty of Sports, humed, law, medsci, socsci

The award is available to Jamaica Nationals who are Full time student registered in any Faculty; Entering LEVEL of any year of study; pursuing BSc. at the UWI, Mona campus. 

JA$400,000 (One Award), JA$250,000 (One Award) and JA$175,000 (Two Awards) Four (4) One (1) year

The award will be based on:

  • Academic performance based on the results of the previous year University examinations (minimum GPA of 3.0).
  • verifiable financial need;
  • active participation in extracurricular activities;
  • demonstrates leadership qualities, volunteerism and social involvement.

Short-listed candidates will be interviewed by a panel consisting of representatives from UWI Development and Endowment Fund.

 The recipient of this award will:

  • Be available for a photo opportunity and provide written testimony on the usefulness of the assistance granted.
  • Be available to participate in any official ceremony related to the formal presentation of the scholarship award.

 

 

 

The following terms and conditions apply:

  • Student may be in receipt of a student loan but still in financial need.

 

The Christine Lee-Baugh Scholarship

The award is available to Holy Childhood High School Alumni registered in any year at the University of the West Indies pursuing an Undergraduate degree preferably MBBS or DDS.

USD $1000 per annum One (1) 1 year

The award will be based on: 

  • academic performance based on the results of the previous year University examinations (minimum GPA of 3.0) or CAPE examinations;
  • verifiable financial need;
  • demonstrated leadership qualities, volunteerism and social involvement.

 Short-listed candidates will be interviewed by a panel consisting of representatives from the UWI Development and Endowment Fund and the donor.

The recipient of this award:

  • must be available for a photo opportunity and provide various written inputs including an academic resume and other items to support donor reporting and promotion of the award;
  • must be available to participate in any official ceremony related to the formal presentation of the scholarship award.
The Danielle Hanson Memorial Bursary medsci

The award is available to  students who are: 

  • Registered in the Faculty of Medical Sciences;
  • Entering the first year of study
J$65,000.00 Two (2) One year

The award will be based on: 

  • Outstanding academic performance in CAPE;
  • Verifiable  financial need;
  • involvement in community activities.

Shortlisted candidates will be interviewed by a panel comprising of representatives from UWI, the Hanson Family and UWI Endowment Fund

Applications must be accompanied by a short essay of not more than 300 words outlining why they believe they should receive the award.

Though priority will be given to first year students, second year students may be considered. 

The Dr Nittala N. Murthy Scholarship socsci

The award is available to full-time registered students who are:

  • second or third year at The UWI; 
  • pursuing a full-time BSc Degree in Economics or Statistics.

 

US $1750.00 per annum One (1) per annum Two (2) years

All applicants must complete and submit a statement of purpose along with their application

The successful applicant will be required (during the course of study) to complete a period of internship with the Department of Economics, UWI, Mona.

The award will be based on:

  • high academic performance with a GPA of 3.0 or higher in the previous academic year;
  • demonstrable financial need;
  • demonstrable community involvement and leadership qualities.

Short-listed candidates will be interviewed by a panel including personnel from UWI, the Donor and any other representative, as selected by the Donor.

The Dr. Pauline O. Lawrence and Dr. Carlton G. Davis Scholarship Fund fst

The award is available to students who:

  • are Jamaican nationals; 
  • have a letter of acceptance and are registered in a full time Undergraduate Degree programme at Mona in the Faculty of Science and Technology.

NB

  • Preference will be given to students who are registered in a programme within the Department of Life Sciences and Biochemistry programmes
USD 3000/yr Seven (7) per annum. Three (3) first year and four (4) students in second year. Three (3) years

The award will be based on: 

  • high academic performance with at least a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.0 in the previous academic year; however in some cases, a student who shows promise but does not meet the 3.0 GPA as a result of extreme, verifiable extenuating circumstances may, at the discretion of the Administration, be considered for financial support
  • verifiable financial need;

Final selection will be done via interviews which will include members of the UWI including a representative from the Faculty of Science and Technology. 

Selected students are required to write a letter to the donor each academic year outlining their overall progress in the programme.

The Dwayne Palmer Memorial Scholarship socsci

The award is available to Jamaican Nationals pursuing a BSc. Degree in Tourism & Hotel Management or Business Management at the UWI, Mona campus.

 

$500 USD One (1) per year One (1) year

The following terms and conditions apply:

  • Participation in an internship programme with the Donor.

 

The award will be based on:

  • academic performance based on the results of the previous year University examinations (minimum GPA of 2.5) 
  • verifiable financial need;
  • demonstrated leadership qualities, volunteerism, and social involvement.

 

Short-listed candidates will be interviewed by a panel comprising of the donor’s organization and the UWI Development and Endowment Fund.

Failure to adhere to the following terms may result in the revocation of the scholarship:

  • The recipient must be available for a photo opportunity and provide various written inputs including an academic resume and other items to support donor reporting and promotion of the award. 
  • The recipient is required to write a letter of appreciation to the donor.

 

The Fontana Foundation Lucas Therrien Memorial Scholarship socsci

The award is available to Jamaica Nationals who are:

  • full time students registered in the Faculty of Social Sciences;
  • entering YEAR ONE of study; 
  • pursuing Business or Economics at the UWI Mona Campus.
Ja $250,000.00 One (1) Three (3) years

The following terms and conditions apply:

  • The recipient must continue to meet all the established criteria to qualify for the subsequent award. (A 3.0 GPA is required to renew the award each year for the remainder of the 3-year program)
  • Volunteer service requirements. (The recipient must complete 10 hours of volunteer work during the year for the award to be renewed).
  • The scholarship recipient should submit a short letter each year detailing the progress in their studies and their university experience.

The award will be based on:

  • high academic performance based on the results of the CAPE examinations;
  • verifiable financial need.

 

Short-listed candidates will be interviewed by a panel consisting of representatives from UWI Development and Endowment Fund.

The recipient of this award will:

  • be available for a photo opportunity and provide written testimony on the usefulness of the assistance granted;
  • be available to participate in any official ceremony related to the formal presentation of the scholarship award.

 

The Frank & Stacy James Scholarship socsci

The award is available to full time registered students who are: 

  • Caribbean nationals;
  • students who are accepted to pursue a BSc Degree in Finance or Business Management in the Faculty of Social Sciences at The UWI, Mona;
J$300,000.00 One (1) per annum One (1) year October 23, 2020

The award will be based on:

  • high academic performance based on CAPE Results or maintain at least a B average or a GPA of 3.0 or higher at The UWI;
  • demonstrable financial need;
  • demonstrable community involvement and leadership qualities.

Short-listed candidates will be interviewed by a panel including personnel from UWI, the Donor and any other representative, as selected by the Donor.

Application shall be accompanied with the following documents:

  • UWI acceptance letter for new students;
  • UWI transcript (in the case of 2nd or 3rd year applicants);
  • one page essay on the applicant's educational goals;
  • two character reference letters.

The award is available to any students pursuing a BSc in any Faculty at the UWI Mona Campus.

J $50,000.00 Six (6) One (1) year

The following terms and conditions apply:

  • participation in facility tours, meetings and other forms of engagement with sponsor.

The award will be based on:

  • verifiable financial need;
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities, volunteerism and social involvement.

Short-listed candidate’s applications will be reviewed by a panel consisting of representatives from the UWI OSF & UWI Mona Guild of Students.

The recipient of this award will:

  • be available for a photo opportunity and provide written testimony on the usefulness of the assistance granted. 
  • be available to participate in any official ceremony related to the formal presentation of the scholarship award.
