NCB Software Engineering Scholarship

The award is available to students who are:

    • Jamaican nationals;
    • under 30 years old;
    • entering Level (Ι) or Level (ΙΙ) of the B.Sc. Software Engineering programme at the University of the West Indies, Mona Campus;
US $5,000.00 per annum Two (2) per annum 4 years September 23, 2020
  • Internship opportunities from the donor may be available for the first two (2) years of the programme.
  • Upon graduation, awardees will be required to serve a bond with the donor for a minimum period of five (5) years.

The award will be based on: 

    • high academic performance in CAPE Units Ι and ΙΙ Examinations;

                                                      OR

    • attaining at least a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.0 at Level Ι of the UWI examinations;
    • demonstrating strong leadership qualities.

Shortlisted candidates will be interviewed by a panel comprising personnel from the donor of the award and the University of the West Indies.

Norbrook Equity Scholarship socsci

The award is available to Caricom Nationals who are: 

  • pursuing a B.Sc. in Accounting, Banking & Finance, Marketing, Operations Management, Entrepreneurship or a General Management Degree
  • entering the final year of study
J$450,000.00 towards tuition and books One (1) per academic year One (1) year

The award will be based on:

  • academic performance (at least a GPA of 3.0);
  • verifiable financial need;
  • demonstrable involvement in co-curricular activities; 
  • demonstrable execution of, or involvement in, at least one (1) entrepreneurial venture

Shortlisted candidates will then be interviewed by a panel comprised of NEP Board Members and Senior Executives, along with personnel from UWI Mona.

Application shall be accompanied by the following documents:

  • UWI transcript 
  • 500 word essay on the applicant's suitabilty for the award
  • Updated resume

The successful candidate shall not be the holder or recipient of any other scholarship covering tuition costs

OAS-UWI 75th Anniversary Commemorative Scholarship Fund socsci

2023 marked the 75th anniversary of both the Organization of American States (OAS) and The University of the West Indies (UWI). The Office of the General Secretariat of the OAS (GS/OAS) in Jamaica and the Faculty of Social Sciences (FSS) of the UWI, Mona campus therefore commemorated the Diamond Jubilee through various activities including the creation of the OAS-UWI 75th Anniversary Commemorative Scholarship Fund (CSF).

About the Scholarships

Scholarships of up to JM$300,000, per year, will be available to cover the cost of tuition and/ or housing at UWI, Mona. Students may apply for this complementary scholarship from the CSF to complete the final year of their degree program in the FSS, UWI Mona Campus, by submitting completed applications to the UWI, Mona Campus, Office of Student Financing (OSF).

Once selected for a CSF scholarship, students will have to accept, in writing, the scholarship offer from the UWI, Mona OSF, and by signing and returning to the GS/OAS Office in Jamaica, a scholarship agreement with the OAS.

Additional OAS funding is available through the OAS-UWI scholarships OAS: Scholarships

Students in need of additional funds will have to apply directly to those OAS-UWI scholarships for funding, in addition to the CSF scholarship.

1. Scholarship applicants must be nationals of OAS: Member States
2. Applicants must be enrolled in the final academic year of their Undergraduate Academic Programme at the Faculty of Social Sciences, UWI Mona.
3. Applicants must submit completed applications to the UWI Office of Student Financing (OSF) by June 30, 2025
4. Applicants must have a GPA of 3.0 or above.
5. Applicants must show financial need.

Complete the application form and submit completed applications to the UWI Office of Student Financing.

Application packages must include all of the following:

  1. A one-page cover letter (typed single spaced) describing the applicant’s financial need and academic performance.
  2. A letter from the UWI, Mona, Admissions Office certifying that the scholarship applicant is enrolled in a degree program of the Faculty of Social Sciences and about to start the last year of the academic program.
  3. “Unofficial” transcript with GPA (which will be verified by the UWI OSF).

 

OFFICE OF STUDENT FINANCING SCHOLARSHIP fst

The award is available to Jamaican Nationals with or without DISABILITIES who are:

 

    • pursuing studies leading to a first degree in the Faculty of Science and Technology (Computer Science or Environmental Science majors)
    •                                       OR
    • pursuing studies leading a degree in the Faculty of Social Sciences (Dept. of Sociology, Psychology & Social Work).
J$150,000.00 One (1) One (1) year

The award will be based on:

 

    • high academic achievement;
    • verifiable financial need;
    • involvement in co-curricular activities.

Short-listed candidates will be interviewed and the recipient selected by personnel from the Office of Student Financing.

Patricia Ismond Memorial Award humed

The award is available to St. Lucian nationals who:

  • matriculate for entry to UWI and/or continuing course of study at the UWI;
  • are registered in the Faculty of Humanities & Education- majoring in Literature or Literary Arts.
US $2,500.00 One (1) One (1) year

The award is based on:

  • Maintenance of a high level of academic performance (GPA of 3.0 or above);
  • Demonstrable involvement in co-curricular activities;
  • Verifiable financial need.

The award will be given based on the decision of a panel comprised of the following:

  • Head of the Department of Literature or designate at the Campus in which the award is made.
  • Head of the Faculty of Humanities and Education or designate at the Campus in which the award is made.
Patrick & Melainee Logan Memorial Bursary

The award is available to students registered in the Undergraduate Degree programme and:

  • are entering Level II or III of their programme of study;
  • attended Titchfield High School, Port Antonio High School or Happy Grove High School.
US $1200 One (1) per year One (1) year

The award will be based on:

  • verifiable financial need;
  • involvement in co-curricular and/or community-related activities;
  • demonstrable leadership qualities.

Shortlisted candidates will be interviewed by a panel consisting of UWI Representatives and the Donor. 

Peter Walker Scholarship - Kittitian students

The award is available to students who:

    • are St. Kitts Nationals  
    • are registered in any programme, in the any faculty at the University of the West Indies, Mona Campus;
    • have completed at least one year of the degree programme.
US$3,000.00 - US$5,000.00 To be decided by the Donor One (1) year

The award will be based on:

    • academic performance (at least a GPA of 3.0);
    • demonstrate involvement in co-curricular activities

The Office of Student Financing will shortlist applicants and the donor will make the final selection.

POTTINGER SCHOLARSHIP FOR NEEDY STUDENTS fst, humed, socsci

The award is available to Jamaican Nationals who:

 

    • are entering their final year of study in a full-time degree programme within either the Faculties of Humanities & Education, Science and Technology or Social Sciences and
    • have had holiday job experience.
J$120,000.00 One (1) One (1) year

The award will be based on:

    • high academic achievement;
    • verifiable financial need;
    • involvement in community activities

Short-listed candidates will be interviewed by a panel comprised of UWI and donor personnel.

PR Belle Educational Grant humed

The award are available to:

  • Jamaican Nationals;
  • students in any Faculty at UWI Mona
  • students entering year one (1) of the programme;
  • must be a female between the age of 18 and 21 years old;
  • must be a graduate of the St. Catherine High School.

JMD100,000.00 One (1) per annum One (1) - Year only

The award will be based on:

  • academic performance based on the results of Advanced Level GCE/CAPE Examination;
  • Involvement in co-curricular activities;
  • verifiable financial need;
  • leadership qualities.

Candidates will be interviewed by a panel comprisingpersonnel from the University and the donors.

PRICEWATERHOUSECOOPERS SCHOLARSHIP socsci

The award is available to Jamaican Nationals who are:

 

    • studying at the Mona Campus and are registered in the Faculty of Social Sciences;
    • pursuing a B.Sc. degree in Management Studies (Accounting option);
    • registered in the final year of the degree programme.
J $300,000.00 One (1) One (1) year

The awards will be based on:

 

    • a record of high academic achievement in UWI examinations of Levels I and II of the degree programme (a GPA of at least 3.6);
    • proven leadership qualities;
    • demonstrable involvement in co-curricular, extra-curricular and/or community activities.

Shortlisted candidates will be interviewed by a panel comprising representatives of UWI and the Donor agency.
