Some pioneering work of CSGM include :

- Mapping of the average solar radiation available to Jamaica

- Modelling of Wind speed and power across Jamaica

- Creation of statistical models for the early (May-July) and late (August-September) rainfall seasons

- Development of a Caribbean Climate Interactive Database

  1. The Climate Studies Group Mona was awarded a grant for US$32,000 by the CCRIF SPC for a project The ‘Tooling for Climate Change Planning and Response in SIDS’ that will include the review, assessment and improvements of the three climate tools and the capacity building of stakeholders in the use and application of the tools.
  2. The Jamaica Mission of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) has awarded US$4 million to an alliance of Jamaican and international private sector and non-profit organizations for a 3-year initiative to accelerate the adoption of distributed solar energy to increase energy resilience in Jamaica. The Alliance is led by the Cadmus Group, a U.S. Firm and includes The University of the West Indies.  A launch event of the Jamaica Energy Resilience Alliance with USAID and Alliance partners was hosted on January 13, 2021 at LASCO's Affiliated Companies' headquarters in White Marl, St Catherine in a hybrid ceremony.
  3. Leonardo Clarke (PI), Michael Taylor, Dale Rankine, Roxann Stennett-Brown, Jayaka Campbell and Tannecia Stephenson. A grant of USD 12,000.00, from The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS), to fund participation in international events, local outreach activity and a journal publication as part of the Developing Country Impacts Modelling Analysis for SRM (DECIMALS) project, “Assess the Impact of Solar Radiation Management Climate Change on Caribbean Agriculture: A Case Study for a Selected Crop and a Selected Location in Jamaica.” June  2021 to June 2023.
  4. Leonardo Clarke (PI), Michael Taylor, Dale Rankine, Roxann Stennett-Brown, Jayaka Campbell and Tannecia Stephenson. A United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) grant of USD 37,999.50, to fund the research activities of the Developing Country Impacts Modelling Analysis for SRM (DECIMALS) project, “Assess the Impact of Solar Radiation Management Climate Change on Caribbean Agriculture: A Case Study for a Selected Crop and a Selected Location in Jamaica..” June  2021 to June 2023.
  5. Risk/Vulnerability Assessments and Preparation of Climate Change Adaptation Strategies/Plans for Five Priority Sectors commissioned by the Ministry of Housing, Urban Renewal, Environment and Climate Change (MHURECC) through funding under the Adaptation Programme and Financing Mechanism for Pilot Programme for Climate Resilience (AP&FM-PPCR).
