Observation of the Efficacy of Acupuncture in Patients with Hypertension

Issue:
DOI:
10.7727.2016.256
Synopsis:
Acupuncture therapy could reduce blood pressure in patients with hypertension.

ABSTRACT

Objective: To investigate the efficacy of acupuncture in the treatment of hypertension in patients from April 2011 to May 2014.

Method: One hundred and six patients with hypertension were divided into two groups: 53 cases in the control group were on oral administration of nifedipine sustained-release (SR) tablets, and the 53 cases in the observation group were on oral nifedipine SR and acupuncture treatment.

Insulin Value-added after Taking Glucose vs Blood Glucose Value-added after Sixty minutes Taking Glucose as a Good Index for Estimating βeta Cell Function by Non-specific Insulin Assay

Issue:
DOI:
10.7727/wimj.2014.333
Pages:
208–13
Synopsis:
Serum true insulin (TI), immunoreactive insulin (IRI), and glucose level in fasting and during an OGTT were measured in NGT,IGT and DM. We calculated ΔI60/ΔG60, HOMA-B and MBCI (Modified Beta Cell function Index) to estimate Beta cell function.

ABSTRACT

Objective: To determine the clinical significance of measuring serum true insulin (TI) in overweight and the non-obese with varying degrees of glucose tolerance, we estimated βeta cell (β- cell) function by calculating indices.

Mass Spectrometric Analysis of Cerebrospinal Fluid Protein for Glioma and its Clinical Applications

DOI:
10.7727/wimj.2015.233
Synopsis:
The combination of SELDI-TOF-MS and bioinformatics tools is a very effective method for screening and identifying new marker of glioma. The established diagnosis models have provided a new way for the clinical diagnosis of glioma, especially for qualitative diagnosis.

ABSTRACT

Objective: To establish and evaluate the fingerprint diagnostic models of cerebrospinal protein profile in glioma Using surface-enhanced laser desorption/ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry (SELDI-TOF-MS) and bioinformatics analysis, for seeking new tumor markers.

A Study of Patients with “Interface Respiratory Failure” Due to Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease

Issue:
DOI:
10.7727/wimj.2014.028
Pages:
81–6
Synopsis:
The definition of interface respiratory failure is scientific and its width is appropriate. We should avoid progression from “interface respiratory failure” to “real respiratory failure”. Interventions should focus on oxygen therapy, bronchodilators, improving respiratory compliance, cytokines and anti-infective agents, respectively.

ABSTRACT

Objective: To explain a definition of “interface respiratory failure” as arterial blood gas assay with arterial oxygen partial pressure in the range of 60-75 mmHg.

Role of Reactive Oxygen Species and Advanced Glycation End Products in the Malfunctioning of Dental Implants

Issue:
DOI:
10.7727/wimj.2014.105
Pages:
419–23
Synopsis:
Pathogenesis of peri-implantitis remains largely unknown. In this study, we have used salivary and tissue samples of patients with peri-implantitis and have highlighted a significant role for oxidative stress and advanced glycation end products in the pathogenesis.

Issue:
DOI:
10.7727/wimj.2014.384
Pages:
398-400

Abstract

Objective: This study aims to observe the clinical efficacy of low-dose rituximab patients with cryoglobulinaemia secondary to connective tissue diseases.

Methods: Rituximab (100 mg) was infused in patients once a week for four weeks, combined with prednisone (20 mg) once a day and reduced regularly. The treatment effect was observed regularly.

Second Transurethral Resection of Bladder Tumour for the Treatment of Muscle-invasive Bladder Tumours

Issue:
DOI:
10.7727/wimj.2013.058
Synopsis:
A second transurethral resection of bladder tumour (TURBT) is suitable for muscle-invasive bladder cancer when bladder preservation is planned as it prolongs survival time and improves the quality of patients’ lives.
ABSTRACT

Objective: This work aims to evaluate the effectiveness of a second transurethral resection for muscle-invasive bladder tumours. The clinical literature of 15 cases of patients with muscle-invasive bladder cancer treated by second transurethral resection of bladder tumours (TURBT) was analysed.
