Mr. Orville Beckford

My Teaching Philosophy

Multiculturalism has made it necessary to know and understand the cultural sensibilities and background of my students for effective teaching and learning at the tertiary level.

Dr. Moji Anderson

Moji / Miss / Dr Moji has a reputation among students. I am entertaining, I am passionate and I am a hard marker. My reputation draws students to my classes; it also keeps students away. The students who are keen to engage in difference and push their epistemological boundaries will take as many of my classes as they can. Those whose primary focus is their GPAs and the piece of paper they will receive after three years’ incarceration in the ivory tower avoid me if they can.

Teaching Philosophy

I recognise that each student will learn in different ways.  I also realise that many students have not been exposed to the attitudinal approaches necessary for success in their studies as well as in their lives.  Many lack confidence, in their ability to succeed at studying as well as at the personal level, and many are apprehensive about being at university.  No successful teaching experience can ignore these and other factors which loom large in the minds of our students.

Faculty Orientation and Academic Advising

Attendance at orientation by newly-admitted students is mandatory.  During orientation, student will meet the staff, learn about the Faculty, and receive information about their and programme of study information.

Academic advising, though available to all students throughout the course of study, is particularly emphasized for new students. The primary purpose of this programme is to assist students in planning, monitoring, and successfully managing their chosen field of study, in relation to clear career objectives.
