A conference in honour of Professor Rupert Lewis entitled "Black Radical Thought, Pedagogy and Praxis was held October 11 to 12 2013 on the Mona Campus.

Rupert Lewis has spent a lifetime dedicated to teaching and activism meant to affirm people of African descent in the Caribbean and globally. His work on Marcus Garvey and Walter Rodney has been critical to the search for knowledge and understanding in the realities of African Diaspora peoples.

The John Hearne exhibition features his life and work as well as the collection which was gifted to the Library by his family.
