Orientation at the University of the West Indies Mona Library takes place throughout the year, as we are committed to help our new and returning students to use the Library efficiently. However, a special effort is during Orientation Week to assist first year students to find their way around the Main Library and its branches. Halls of Residence Librarians (HRL) also collaborate with First Year Experience (FYE) and Resident Advisors throughout the year to arrange additional sessions to help new students navigate campus life.
We have set up an orientation website for you where you can get general library information as well as virtual tours and other activities. Visit orientation site
Students are also encouraged to check our website regularly and follow us on social media to get information about training sessions on how to search The UWI Libraries Information portal UWIlinC to learn how to locate journal articles and other resources from our databases and other sources. These sessions are advertised the first two weeks after Orientation Week by the Mona Information Literacy Unit (MILU) located at the Main Library.
Students are also encouraged to make use of our Virtual Reference Service Ask a Librarian
