The award is available to all Jamaican nationals who have successfully completed all level I courses leading to the Bachelors degree with a major in Library & Information Studies. 

J$100,000.00 One (1) One (1) year

successful candidate will be required, upon graduation to become an active member of the Library and Information Association of Jamaica by volunteering to serve one of its working parties for at least a year. 

The award will be based primarily on: 

  • academic performance;
  • verifiable financial need;
  • an indication of committment to the profession by being a member of the Library and Information Association of Jamaica among other things.

Shortlisted candidates will be interviewed by a committe comprising UWI and Donor personnel.

  • verifiable financial need;
  • an indication of commitment to profession by being a member of the Jamaica Library Association, among other things;
  • demonstrated interest in the profession.

Short-listed candidates will be interviewed by a committee comprising The UWI and donor personnel.

LIBRARY AND INFORMATION ASSOCIATION OF JAMAICA (LIAJA) SCHOLARSHIP humed

Available to Jamaican Nationals who have successfully completed all level I courses leading to the Bachelors degree with a major in Library & Information Studies.

Lions Club of Mona Bursary for Students with Special Needs agriculture, engineering, fst, Faculty of Sports, humed, law, medsci, socsci

The award is available to undergraduate students with Special Needs attending The University of the West Indies, Mona Campus and are:

  • Caribbean  Nationals;
  • registered in any faculty, programme or year of study;
  • any age;
  • either full-time or part-time students.

 

$250,000.00 One (1) per year One (1) year

The award will be based on:

  • high academic performance in the University Scholarship Examination or Advanced Level GCE/CAPE Examinations OR have attained at least a Grade Point Average (GPA) of at least 2.5 in the previous academic year of the UWI examinations;
  • verifiable financial need;
  • involvement in co-curricular/community activities;
  • demonstrable leadership qualities etc;

Shortlisted candidates will be interviewed by a panel comprising personnel from the University and the Donors or as otherwise  specified.

M&M Jamaica Limited Chance Fund Scholarship engineering

The award is available to Jamaican Nationals who are: 

  • full time undergraduate students;
  • entering any year of the Engineering or Building and Construction field
$300,000.00 each Maximum (7) per annum 4 years
  • Must be a Jamaican citizen
  • Good Academic Record
  • Verifiable Financial Need
  • Must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 for students who have already completed one year
  • Must be a resident of the following parishes:
    • St. Catherine (Old Harbour community)
    • Westmoreland
    • St James(Montego Bay Community)
    • Kingston  (Western )

Short-listed candidates will be interviewed by a panel comprising personnel from the University and M&M Jamaica Limited

Mae Mercer Scholarship engineering, fst, humed, law, medsci, socsci

The award is available to Jamaican Nationals who: 

  • accepted an offer in a full-time  undergraduate programe in any Faculty at the University of the West Indies,Mona 
  • resided in Glengoffe
J$250,000.00 Two (2) One (1) year

The award will be based on: 

  • outstanding academic achievement (in CAPE or at least a 2.8 GPA for  existing UWI students)
  • verifiable financial need

Shortlisted candidates will be interviewed by a panel including representatives of UWI and the Donor organization. 

Margaret "Peggy" Steuart Scholarship socsci

The award is available to Jamaica Nationals who are:

  • registered at the UWI, Mona Campus in any year of the programme, studying Tourism Management. 

 

To be decided by the donor One (1) per annum One (1) year

Students who are awarded will be required to serve a Bond which will be administered by the Human Resource Department at Half Moon.

The award will be based on:

  • high academic performance in the last academic year's University examinations (at least a GPA of 3.5);
  • demonstrable leadership potential;

 

Shortlisted candidates will be interviewed by a committee comprising personnel from the University and the Half Moon Hotel.

MARK WILLIAMS MEMORIAL AWARD (THE )

The award is available to students who:

 

    • are registered in the Faculty of Social Sciences (majoring in Mgmt Studies/ or Accounting)
    • are either in levels two (2) or three (3) of their programme.
USD$1,200.00 ($J equivalent) One (1) One (1) year

The award will be based on:

 

    • academic achievement (at least a GPA of 3.0);
    • verifiable financial need;
    • demonstrable leadership qualities;
    • involvement in co-curricular and/or community service.

Selection will be made by the Office of Student Financing in consultation with the Donors.

Marlon King Memorial Disability Scholarship

The purpose of the Scholarship is to support the annual cost of tuition, accommodation and other University related expenses associated with obtaining an undergraduate degree in any discipline/majors at The University of the West Indies (UWI).

Applicants should satisfy all of the following criteria:

  1. Must have a disability such as Deaf, Hearing Impaired, Physical, Blind, Visual Impaired, Mental Illness, Learning, Intellectual or Multiple Disabilities.
  2. Must be registered with the Jamaica Council for Persons with Disabilities with a documented disability (supply evidence)
  3. Must be a Registered full time undergraduate student - at any year of study including first year.
  4. Must have a record of satisfactory conduct/behaviour. Satisfying requirements of The UWI pertaining to Students ’behaviour and performance.
  5. Participation in extracurricular activities is an asset. Consideration will be given to students with such disabilities that would render this clause unfair for them to qualify for the Scholarship.
  6. Must be a citizen of Jamaica.
  7. Must have evidence of financial need of the students shall be considered as criteria for qualification (supply evidence such as The Programme of Advancement Through Health and Education (PATH) household beneficiary or acceptable equivalent)
US$1,700 for each scholarship. One each academic year One (1) Year

The scholarship will be advertised on the campus website and/or any other University approved media. Short-listed candidates will be interviewed by a panel comprising personnel from the UWI and the donor (Annicia Gayle-Geddes and/or representative of the Combined Disabilities Association designated by the Executive Director)

(1) A photograph of the scholarship award from the UWI to the recipient; and

(2) Facilitate an interview of 10 minutes at the UWI with donor’s representative about how the scholarship has aided them (post-completion of the academic year of award).

US$1,700 for each scholarship.

The award covers the following costs as estimated by the UWI:

  • tuition
  • residence fees
  • books, incidentals such as laptop, tablet or adaptive devices or aides
  • maintenance
McIntyre/Nettleford Vice-Chancellors’ Scholarship fst, humed, law, medsci, socsci

The award is available to a Full time undergraduate student pursuing a three year degree programme:

  • registered at one of the UWI’s on-Campus Facilities (Mona, Cave Hill or St. Augustine);
  • entering the 2nd or final year.
USD $6000.00 One (1) 2 Years May 31, 2019

The award will be based on: 

  • academic achievement (minimum GPA of 2.5);
  • demonstrates financial need. 

Short-listed candidates will be interviewed by a panel including personnel from The UWI and donors.

 

The scholarship also includes the possibility of a semester at Oxford (to be covered by UWI)
