The award is available to full time registered students who are:  

    • Jamaican nationals
    • 17-25 years
J $20,000.00 One (1) One (1) year

The award will be based on: 

    • Academic performance of at least a GPA of 3.0
    • Financial need
    • Participation in co-curricular activities

Candidate will be selected by the Office of Student Financing.

EY Scholarship

The award is available to Jamaican Nationals who are:

  • studying at the Mona Campus and are registered in the Faculty of Social Sciences;
  • entering Level II of the programme;
  • pursuing a B.Sc. degree in Management Studies (Accouning).
J $320,000.00 One (1) per annum Two (2) years
  • Accept employment as an intern for a minimum of 8 weeks at the local EY office during summer school breaks.
  • Pursue full-time employment for a minimum of 2 years at the local EY office following completion of course of study

The awards will be based on:

  • a record of high academic acievement;
  • proven leadership qualities;
  • verifiable financial need;
  • demonstrable involvement in co-curricular, extra-curricular and/or community events.

Shortlisted candidates will be interviewed by a panel comprising representatives of UWI and EY.

FRANK L. MYERS SCHOLARSHIP law

The award is available to:

    • Jamaican Nationals who are enrolled in the Faculty of Law;
    • students who have successfully completed Level 1 of the LL.B programme and will be no more than 25 years of age on September 1 of the year of award. 

 

J$250,000.00 One (1) Two (2) years

The awardee will be required to serve in Jamaica for a period of three (3) years immediately following completion of the course of study. Employment with Myers, Fletcher & Gordon at anytime is entirely within the discretion of  Myers, Fletcher & Gordon. Scholars who hope to work with Myers, Fletcher & Gordon as a law student are encouraged to apply early in the year in which they wish to be employed.

Applicants shall be short-listed and interviewed by a panel comprising Myers, Fletcher & Gordon representatives and UWI personnel.

Geological Society of Jamaica Scholarship-DEADLINE JANUARY 23, 2021 fst

The award is available to students who are: 

  • Jamaican nationals; 
  • undergraduate students registered in the Faculty of Science and Technology (majoring in Geology)
  • entering final year (level 3)
J $141,328.50 One (1) One (1) year January 23, 2021

The award will be based on:

  • High academic performance (at least a GPA of 3.0)
  • strong co-curricular involvement/leadership qualities
  • verifiable financial need
  • membership in the Geological Society of Jamaica and or UWI Geological Society

Shortlisted candidates will be interviewed by a panel comprising personnel from the Donors and UWI. 

Candidates are required to submit a 500 word essay about themselves and the interest in Geology.

Essay should be (font size: 12, font type: Times New Roman)

 

Gillian Whylie Scholarship humed

The award is available to students who are: 

  • Jamaican nationals;
  • registered in the Faculty of Humanities and Education pursuing an undergraduate degree in the Department of Modern Languages or CARIMAC or relevant area of study (eg. Mass Communications or International relations) that requires mandatory study in at least one modern language;
  • entering the first year of the degree programme.
J$400,000.00 per annum One (1) Three (3) years

The award will be based on: 

  • Outstanding academic record 
  • Demonstrable financial need
  • Demonstrable community involvement and leadership qualities

Shortlisted candidates will be interviewed by the Selection Panel from the Gillian Whylie Scholarship Fund.

Application shall be accompanied by the following documents:

  • a 250 word statement on why he or she should receive the scholarship

Shortlisted candidates must be prepared to have a brief conversation in an appropriate foreign language. 

Gladstone and Hermine Pottinger Memorial Scholarship engineering, fst, Faculty of Sports, humed, law, medsci, socsci

The award is available to Jamaican nationals who: 

  • are entering their final year of study in a full-time undergraduate degree programme at the University of the West Indies;
  • have had holiday job experience. 

 

J $180,000.00 One (1) One (1) year

The award will be based on:

  • High academic achievement (3.0GPA)
  • Verifiable financial need
  • All-round involvement in church and community activities.

Interested youths (20 – 25 years) who are active members of a church congregation (priority given to congregants of the United Church of Jamaica and Cayman Islands) are invited to apply for the above-mentioned scholarship.

A written reference must be provided by the pastor of the church.

 

Short-listed candidates will be interviewed by a panel comprised of UCJCI, UWI and donor personnel.  

Gregory Vassell Memorial Award fst

The award is available to students who;

  • are registered in the Faculty of Science and Technology (majoring in Computer Science, Computer System Engineering and Information Technology);
  • are either in levels two (2) or three (3) of their programme.

 

USD$1,200.00 One (1) One (1) year

The award will be based on:

  • academic achievement (at least a GPA of 3.0);
  • verifiable financial need;
  • demonstrable leadership qualities;
  • involvement in co-curricular and/or community service.

 

Selection will be made by the Office of Student Financing in consultation with the Donors.

Guild Part Time Assistance (P.T.A) Grant fst, humed, law, medsci, socsci

The award is available to Jamaican Nationals who are: 

  • registered part time in any undergraduate programme
J $150,000.00 One (1) One (1) year

The award will be based on: 

  • academic performance based on results of the previous academic year University examinations (at least a GPA of 3.0)
  • verifiable financial need

Shortlisted candidates will be interviewed by a panel comprised of personnel from the University an or the Donors

H. J. FENTON MEMORIAL UNDERGRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP IN ENGINEERING fst

The award is available to Jamaican Nationals who are:

    • no older than 25 years in the year of the award;
    • pursuing undergraduate studies in the field of Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical or Electrical, Electronics or Electrical Power)

 

University Fees and other estimated annual costs One (1) Three (3) years

The recipient of the award will be:

    • required to maintain a GPA of at least 3.60 in their University Examinations in order to continue on the award;
    • formally bonded to serve in Jamaica for a minimum of three (3) years immediately after graduation.

 

The award will be based on:

    • high academic performance in the University Scholarship Examinations or the Cambridge A' Level or CXC Cape Examination results ;
    • verifiable financial need;
    • community and in co-curricular involvement;
    •  leadership qualities.

 

 

 

Short-listed candidates will be interviewed by a panel comprising representatives from Petrojam Ltd. and UWI, Mona

Employees and immediate family members of employees of Petrojam Limited are not eligible for the award.

Hastings Needy Students Grant agriculture, engineering, fst, humed, law, medsci, socsci

The award is available to full-time Jamaican students who are:

  • registered in any faculty;
  • entering any year of their programme;
  • from the parish of St. James or Westmoreland.
  • Preference will be given to Students from Montego Bay High School and Mannings High School
J$40,000.00 One (1) per year One (1) year

The award will be based on:

  • financial need;
  • Co-curricular involvement.

 

Selection will be done by the donor of the award.
