This study investigated the level of plasma hypoxia-inducible factor (HIF)-1α and cytochrome c (CytoC) in correlation with C-reactive protein, dyslipidaemia, insulin resistance, and prognostic factors in Type 2 diabetic patients in Saudi Arabia. Reduced level of HIF-1α and non-significant increased level of CytoC correlated negatively with these prognostic factors. These results pointed to a possible pathogenetic implication for HIF-1α.
ABSTRACT
Objective: This cross-sectional study evaluated the association of plasma cytochrome c (CytoC) and hypoxia-inducible factor (HIF)-1α, as mitochondrial dysfunction and cellular hypoxia biomarkers, with disease risk factors and prognosis in Type 2 diabetic patients in Saudi Arabia.
A clinical audit of the quality of sexual abuse referral forms to the Sexual Abuse Follow-up and Evaluation Clinic between 2011 and 2015 demonstrated inadequate documentation.
ABSTRACT
Objective: To evaluate the adequacy of the documentation of referral forms for sexually abused females aged 13–19 years directed to the Sexual Assault Follow-up and Evaluation (SAFE) Clinic at the Agape Family Medicine Clinic, Nassau, The Bahamas, for interim management.
Bioprinting is a field of research that has received significant attention, particularly in the adoption of bioimpresion that has grown enormously, concepts in the field of regenerative medicine and tissue engineering. The aim of this work is headed in the systematic revision and comparison of different techniques.
ABSTRACT
Objective: The aim of this work is headed in the systematic revision and comparison of different techniques for the use of bioprint within the area odontology used in the last 10 years.

Dental caries is a well-known public health problem in Mexico and worldwide. In this study, caries was prevalent in our patients, and age, family size, dental pain, and oral hygiene were variables related to this disease.
ABSTRACT
Objectives: To determine the factors associated with dental caries in the primary and permanent dentition of children attending a paediatric dentistry clinic at a public university in central Mexico.

In this cross-sectional study among 390 Caribbean children, 24% of the children lived in food insecure households. Household food insecurity was associated with lower intake of protein and zinc, and anemia among children but not growth.
ABSTRACT
Objective: To examine food insecurity and its relationship with children’s nutritional health.

Due to aging of population, number of elderly hip fracture incidence gradually increases, with an average growth rate of 1% to 3% per year, resulting in a serious impact on health of the elderly. The study was designed to explore effect of persistent family rehabilitation guidance on the elderly after hip re-fracture surgery.
ABSTRACT
Objective: To explore effect of persistent family rehabilitation guidance on the elderly after hip re-fracture surgery.
Methods: Conclude specific methods of persistent family rehabilitation guidance for elderly patients with hip re-fracture, observe patients’ hip joint function score, understanding towards rehabilitation knowledge and other indicators.

In this study, the effect of gender on the Achilles tendon’s elastic property is not a significant covariable in the young, healthy sample. Muscle strength may play a more important role in the Achilles tendon’s injury rather than in tendon’s elasticity.
ABSTRACT
Objective: To assess the gender-related differences in the elasticity and thickness of the Achilles tendon among healthy young participants.
Methods: A total of 48 volunteers, who were healthy adults between the ages of 20 and 25 years, were included in this study. The metabolic equivalent (MET) scores, tendon thickness and shear wave velocities (SWVs) were compared between the males and females.
This study estimates the average prevalence, case-fatality rate and cause-specific mortality rate of SCD in Grenada, West Indies, and compares the epidemiology to that in the United States of America and elsewhere in the Caribbean.
ABSTRACT
Objective: Sickle cell disease (SCD) is a multifaceted, chronic disease severely affecting the quality of life of patients and their families. In addition, it is becoming a costly public health concern. In comparing the epidemiology, management and outcome of SCD in the United States of America and the Caribbean, this article aimed to promote awareness of SCD and the need for adequate treatment.
