2014 Vice Chancellor's Awards for Excellence Start:

An exhibition to honour the recipients of the 2014 Vice Chancellor's Awards for Excellence  is now on dislay in the Catalogue Hall of the Main Library.
Three members of staff at the Mona Campus  received this award: Professor Marvin Reid, Director of the Tropical Metabolism Research Unit, Professor Simon Mitchell, Department of Geography and Geology, and Professor Hopeton Dunn, Director of the Caribbean Institute of Media & Communications (CARIMAC), whose award is for contributions to public service.

Trevor Rhone Collection

Trevor D. Rhone, CD  (March 24,1940 – September 15, 2009),has often been referred to as Jamaica’s most celebrated playwright, home in Jamaica, and internationally. He has authored works in several genres - 17 works for the stage, co-authored the classic films The Harder They Come (1969) and Milk & Honey(1988); and authored three other screenplays – Smile Orange(1974), Top Rankin’ (1986) and One Love (2005).

Women in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics

The Science Branch library has created an exhibition on “Women in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM)”. The aim of the exhibition is to highlight the work of women scientists (professors and doctors) in the Faculty of Science & Technology at the University of the West Indies, Mona. It also seeks to call attention to the burgeoning STEM concept in Jamaica.
